In 2025, in collaboration with IKEA China, our team conducted a systematic study on future-oriented home living. We launched a nationwide inquiry into intergenerational co-living and evolving household relationships.
Meanwhile, by visiting 13 families with elders across Shanghai, Chongqing, and Harbin and collecting over 1,100 survey responses, we examined real needs across generations — from solo-living seniors to multigenerational households — focusing on their living spaces, emotions, and daily lives.
This research aims to offer valuable insights for studies and practices related to aging, and to encourage ongoing conversations about the future of living.
